When you’re in a relationship with another person, you start to develop a rhythm with one another. Perhaps you and your significant other have recently made the decision to have a child together. This, of course, is a huge step, and for many people, it can cause a fair amount of anxiety. “This is wonderful and it’s what we wanted, so why am I so anxious about it?” you ask yourself.

The truth of the matter is that even when you’re fully prepared, you will likely encounter a bit of anxiety at some point along the way. The good news is that with over 25 years of experience in relationship counseling, I would be glad to help you through the situation. Processing your emotions can be a challenge whether you’re an expecting mother or a soon-to-be father, but my expertise in family and relationship issues makes me uniquely qualified to lend a helping hand.

Couples Counseling for Parents-to-Be

As I mentioned above, having a child is a wonderful and beautiful thing, but that doesn’t mean that fears won’t creep into the picture at some point or another. Finding out that you’ll be adding a new member to your family is incredibly exciting, of course, but one of the first things that people think about is how it will affect their finances. There’s no two ways about it; having a baby costs money.

It doesn’t take long to start looking at the costs of having a baby in the hospital. Add in the price of a carseat, a crib, and clothes, and it can start to feel a little bit overwhelming. The good news in this situation is that you can rest a little more easily knowing that your concern is shared by the vast majority of parents out there, and they found a way to make things work!

Getting Your Anxiety Under Control Takes Work

There are a number of wonderful parenting books out there that can help you to work through the issues that expecting parents commonly face. My advice to you is to speak with people that you know who are parents and see if they can make a recommendation for which book to read. You could also read reviews on Amazon and look into top sellers.

At the end of the day, however, sometimes what’s best is to simply speak to someone who has been trained to help you work your way through the anxiety you might be feeling. If you’re considering couples counseling to help you make it through your pregnancy in as healthy a way as possible, I’d love to hear from you!
